Promise Accomplished. Yet Again !!!!…
Promise Accomplished. Yet Again !!!!…
Six years ( flash ) back, yours truly has promised Prathiba ( Better Half ) that every alternate year will have vacation.
This promise was made during our honey moon and I am proud that I am able to fulfill till 2010
2004 - Goa (Honey Moon)
2006 - Madikere, Coorg & Mysore
2008 - Kolkata, Cuttack
2010 - Ooty
Want to make 2010 a different one from the previous promises ( Trips ) and hence planned in a such a way that it should be a memorable one ….hence Prathiba’s birthday ( May 30th) was chosen as the day.
Unlike previous years this time it was difficult since I have to take care of my grown up daughter, both Mudumalai and Black Thunder came to my rescue.
Thanks to Google search engine for aiding me in identifying a hotel and IRCTC for getting tickets.
Started on May 28th and returned back on June 2nd, away from laptop and anonymous (irritating) calls that lands up in our mobile.
Lingering pleasant moments are….
Decent hotel @ good deal.
Place was selected so that we are away from noise commotion. It is on the
gateway of Ooty from Conoor. Downside is lot of walking…
On the verge of closing stages of season…fewer crowds…
Fortunate to have Enthusiastic & buoyant cabwala
Finally all the 5 days are treasured moments
Forgettable moments are…
Potential loss of Ananya in the Black Thunder horde. Almost lost her.
No wild animals in Mudhumalai.
Pollution. Lot of hoardings on plastics being banned in Ooty but you can see heaps of plastics.
Learning from the trip …
Big ONE…Never ever trust an unknown person….( Left Ananya with a women till we finish a ride and almost lost her)
Photos...

Customer Service @ its Best
True Incident!! This is from my friend
I m working in Chennai One(Thoraipakkam), Chennai. I usually travel by Metropolitan Transport Corporation(MTC) bus, from jain college stop (Which is near to my office) to tidel park and from Tidel park I will catch train, to home. MTC bus coming from kelambakkam(19B,21H) mostly wont stop in tidel park in early days. So I usually prefer to get into T51 bus, which will stop in tidel park stop. After some time 19B started stopping in tidel park also.
Today while returning from office at around 8.30 pm, I was in a hurry to catch my 9.28 pm train at Tidel park. I got up a bus(19B) in Jain College at around 8.45 pm, and asked the conductor to give a ticket for tidel park stop. He said, the bus wont stop there, and he asked me to get down at signal if it stops there or else get down at stop next to tidel park. I was arguging with him that I am going daily with the same bus and get down in the tidel park stop. But he was keep on saying the same thing.. I got irritated with conductor response. Suddenly I remembered a complaint phone no.(9884301013) I read in one bus sometime back and noted down in my mobile. I called that no. and said about the incident that conductor is not stopping in the usual stop.
The MTC representative (person at the other end) asked me to give the phone to the conductor. The conductor was not interested to talking with his official. The MTC rep. asked me the bus registration no. He enquired where is the bus at that time and I said it is in Kandhanchavadi. The MTC rep. said he will come in the line and talk to them. I was curious how he will come and catch the bus.
After few mins. the wireless transmeter(to track the bus), near the driver in the bus started shouting... Driver stop the bus. Driver stop the bus in the left side of the road. Driver was not sure what is happening may be his first experience, for others(including me) it is the real first experience. The driver stopped the bus and started listening to the transmeter. The MTC rep. enquired why the bus is not stopping in tidel park stop. The driver said he stops in tidel park stop and in the previous trip also he has done. The rep. asked him then why the conductor is saying like that. He asked the conductor what is the issue. The conductor was speechless. The driver somehow managed the situation and supported the conductor by saying that the conductor was new to this route. The driver asked excuse for the incident and said he will stop in the Tidel Park stop
The MTC rep. said he wanted to talk the passenger who called him. I went near the transmeter and spoke to the MTC rep. He said sorry for the incident happened and asked sorry on behalf of MTC. Everyone in the bus were surprised of things happening. I came back to my seat and I was so embarrassed as all were looking at me. Few passengers asked me what is the no. and whom I called. They also took the no. The bus stopped in Tidel Park stop then. After getting down I called the MTC rep. and said the bus stopped in the stopping.
It was a nice experience for me and others who travelled in the bus, including driver and conductor and I was very shocked after this incident. Yes, nowadays good things are happening in government sector also and technology is used properly.

Recession - Need for Gear Change
An American Red Cross employee in Vermont recently started a new business: Recession Ride Taxi. Displaying recession-era innovation at its finest, he doubled up his SUV as a taxi and printed the words "Pay What You Can" at the back, asking patrons to pay what they feel is decent. He says he’s never been stiffed, and business is pretty good with him making over $600 in two weeks. ( We have invented this long time back ....Share Auto....)
With a slightly larger amount at stake is Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch, who suffered losses of over £2 billion as a result of collapse in advertising revenues, pushing him to describe 2009 as the “most difficult in recent history.” His solution? Charge customers for accessing the online news content of his newspapers.
Clearly, the tough economic environment has prompted individuals and companies to relook at the way they do business and has spawned alternative retooling of cost structures. For providers in the outsourcing space, this transformation comes in the form of the ‘pay as you go’ business model where transaction pricing is based on the number of transactions.
For instance, in the accounts payable world, you can either get paid based on the number of full time employees or the number of invoices you process (pay by drink) However, as you improve the rate of processing invoices, if you ask a CFO what their ideal situation is, they won’t say they need us to process it at 1 cent lower cost or 2 days faster--they’ll want more discounts from their suppliers – the lowest possible price. And the ultimate evolution of this model would be when the provider gets paid based on the delivery of those metrics.

Getting admission into Business – School
Please do not go by the subject, certainly this is not about getting admission into Masters in Business, it is about getting admission for kids in school which is run like Business.
Last one month I am running pillars to post in the process of seeking admission for Ananya (my kid) who is 5 years and need to start 1st Standard for the academic year starting 2010.
One of the school which has plans till next millennium treats and greets each parent as Customer and this is absolutely true the way they run the school oops…sorry Business. I even heard that they call Parents as Customers in the PTA meetings.
Another school which associates itself to Gold (Pon), was like a tiny island in the mid of Valasarvakkam when Nisha swept Chennai in November 2008, demands close to six digit as fees for the entire first year.
When I was stag and people talk about getting school admission I used to make fun of them, now I am in their shoes dancing to the tunes to school administrative people.
After getting admission I would have become an expert and could start helping others in getting admission.
Will keep you all posted on my success in getting admission for my kid.

Customer Service - Unlimited Boundary
This is one of my pending wish for a long period....to start one and share my experiences with everyone. I need to thank my mentor on this who has created an interest in me and have enjoyed his posting...... With that comes my first edition.
Received an SMS early morning...." Times strike unable to deliver ....." from an unknown person.

Throughout the morning would have opened the door several times to check on the hanging newspaper but in vain. Started to office cursing the paperwala for his punctuality. During lunch time while cleaning up my mailbox in my handset came across the above SMS and called the unknown person to check the source.....Really surprised to hear a voice from other end who has recognized me and said that Times of India's agents are holding a strike and hence he has sent an SMS to each of his customer and went on to add that he will substitute with THE HINDU if it continues.....the voice is none other than ...my paperwala
Amazed by his boundary less customer service...We need people with this attitude in our industry and this particular person is a school dropout....All I can do is appreciate his efforts and share this experience with you all.
